Michigan 9th Congressional Candidates Walk a Day in the Shoes of SEIU Health Care and Public Workers
Two candidates for Michigan’s 9th Congressional seat participated in SEIU’s “Walk a Day in My Shoes” program, experiencing firsthand what it’s like to be a home care worker and a public works employee.
Democratic candidate Gary Peters joined home care worker and SEIU Healthcare Michigan member Janice Brinkly on her shift caring for her client Consuella Jackson at her Farmington Hills home. Peters prepared meals, completed routine chores, and helped Brinkly care for her elderly client.
Fellow Democratic candidate Nancy Skinner spent the day with SEIU Local 517M members in Royal Oak cleaning sewer lines, reading and collecting change from parking meters, and talking with Royal Oak Department of Public Works employees about their concerns this election.
